After reading 50ford500's post on moving, I felt obliged to post something similar. My neighbors across the street are moving to the Miami, FL area tomorrow, after exactly one year of owning their home. The husband was transferred with a promotion, and it was really a no brainer for them to move. So far, our neighborhood has been blessed with really great people in the home. When my wife and I moved into our home in 1999, the proverbial little old lady lived there, she made cookies for a daughter when she was little, and was really nice. She passed away in 2008, and a young couple with a daughter the same age as my son moved in. We got along really well, and our two younger kids were fast friends. They moved due to issues with their immediate neighbor, to the great disappointment of everyone on the street. But the current owners , who are now moving, were cool. The husband even gave me the smoker grill he couldn’t take with him to Florida. So, now my wife and I are awaiting the new people who take possession on Friday. No real idea when they are moving in, but I assume it will be soon. Hopefully, they’re cool too.

Good luck.

My neighbor has been getting some minor repairs done on his house. I've been thinking to myself, "please don't move, please don't move, please don't move." He's quiet as a mouse and mows his lawn.

He’s probably thinking, “Good God, t he neighbors got how much for their house!? Mines much nicer, I could make a ton of money if I sold it”. We a re own worst enemy sometimes.

We built on a cul de sac 18 years ago. That little old lady and her husband lived here too. They were like second grandparents to our daughter after she was born. He’s passed, but she’s still with us and is still essentially a grandma .

The rest of the street grew up around us, and now we have a crew. We hav e block parties and poker games just because. We sit out on summer evenings with our drinks BSing while our kids run wild playing whatever. And I’ve posted here about movie nights, where the family across the street puts up a huge white panel after sundown, and projects a movie, and all the kids cuddle up on the lawn and eat popcorn.

Whenever someone moves away, we all hold out breath to see who takes their place. Movie family, with two little girls that did sleepovers with my daughter, just moved away, but they came back to visit Sunday, and everyone went out to The Lot for dinner, because that’s how it is here . The new couple is moved in and is reputed to be nice, but we haven’t seen them yet. The chemistry we have here is a delicate thing. So, yeah, I understand fingers crossed.

I have been getting some new neighbors. Most recent is right behind me. The seller told us they are Russian and only spoke English through their 14 year old son interpreter. I haven’t really meet them.

Old Neighbor Jerry’s wife left him after 40-50 years marriage. So he sold the house. He was sort of odd, but we got along.

I wouldn’t mind if 2 of my Neighbors left. But I don’t see that happening soon.

Yep, that’s pretty much our street, but I feel a change in the air. Friday nights were sitting around the portable fire pit in my drive-way till the wee hours with our neighbors, some times until late, late in the fall. Halloween was putting a table out for the candy of five or six of the houses on the street, having drinks with everyone and a chili cook off. We’ve had a block party three years running until this year, as my wife and I can’t finance it, the prior across the street neighbors put up quite a bit of money for food and drinks, and other people on the street have also moved this year. God, I need a beer.

We are about to move (again) and we've already met a couple of halves of our new neighbours. However, given that our closest new neighbour lives a quarter of a mile away...we should be OK.

I occasionally nod at the lady who lives next door to me when she’s out walking her dog.

We should compare addresses. Maybe we’re neighbors.

I’m thinking Dallas(?) and Toledo are not close by.
